As 2016 draws to a close and a new year is about to begin we find ourselves reflecting on what has been and planning what goals we plan to achieve.
So often we start out with energized intentions for the new year, we can see our goals, we feel they are achievable and we are prepared to put them into action.
Most of us know, that within a week, maybe a month, the vision has diminished, the goals feel unachievable and the enthusiasm has gone.
Why do we need to wait for a new year to set goals and believe in our power. Maybe we don’t actually believe we can achieve our goals and New Year is an opportunity to ‘try again’?
The start of any significant change isn’t something that will happen with a new year, a full moon or a birthday. Significant change can happen at any given moment but it is only possible when we truly want it and more than anything, truly believe we deserve it.
Our minds hold us in what is familiar, what feels safe, even if safe is painful. If we’ve been living in a certain way, our subconscious mind believes this is by choice, this is what we feel comfortable with. The more we rerun old failures, disappointments, hurts and fears, the more our subconscious mind will direct us to situations that will keep us stuck. Only when we recognize the patterns and take decisive action to stop letting our old stories dictate our future experiences can we begin the journey to deliberately creating a life filled with the joy, abundance, and health we want.
As T. D. Jakes tells us in this inspirational video put together by Ahmed Ismail, ‘the mind is a battleground. The fight is in your mind. Are you ready for the next level? What are you going to do with the time you have left?
‘the mind is a battleground. The fight is in your mind. Are you ready for the next level? What are you going to do with the time you have left?’
Time is limited for us all. We can only be sure of one thing, it will run out. If we want to make the most of what time we have, we need to feed our minds with gratitude, with appreciation, with visions of the life we want and we need to stop the negative thoughts in their tracks. As I’ve shared before, each time an insecure memory or feeling surfaces, each time a memory holds us in fear or anger, we must say ‘next,’ and flick it away.
Keep making room in your mind for the belief that you are a miracle, you are powerful, you have the right to choose your experiences and that they ALL begin in your mind. Have your goals play out as if they’ve happened, create a scene in a movie with you as the main star. Let the scene, your dream, play over and over, expand on it, feel it, be joyful for it and let your subconscious mind believe it has already happened. Eventually, your mind will start to play your scenes of choice rather than the scenes that no longer serve you.
I will leave you with the inspiring words of T. D. Jakes and wish you and yours a blessed and joyful 2017 [spacerheight=”10px”]
