We’re taking a different direction today but equally important and equally inspiring.
Peter Diamandis, a Greek-New Yorker, entrepreneur, co-founder and executive chairman of Singularity University is the co-author of the New York Times bestsellers Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think and BOLD: How to Go Big, Create Wealth, and Impact the World.
In this TED talk, Peter Diamandis shows us why we think we are living in some of the most frightening times and how, actually, we are living is THE most peaceful time in human history.
He shares an important message that we can all benefit from. It’s very easy to hear the news and become consumed by fear and doom. Whilst we study the works of inspirational teachers and try to remain positive, world news and events have a habit of filtering into our awareness, even when we deliberately try to avoid them.
As humans, our brains have been equipped with the two amygdalae. They are situated on each side of the brain and are thought to be a part of the limbic system which is responsible for emotions, survival instincts, and memory.
In our primitive days, we needed the amygdalae was to protect us from predators like lions. Today, we have little use for that level of protection so instead, our brains search our environment for threats and danger. Hence why we are drawn to bad news.
Our amygdalae are literally danger detectors. As Peter shares in this TED talk, there’s an old newspaper line, ‘if it bleeds, it leads.
And you thought it was just the media!
We are by nature pessimists and seek out bad news, when in fact, we are surrounded by tremendous good news each day that we don’t even care to know about.
Not only the most peaceful time but most the most abundant. He shares how we have the technology TODAY to correct many of the issues we face, like water and energy scarcity.
He tell us that it in 2020, it is predicted that we will have gone from 2 billion internet users to 5 billion users. That means there will be 3 billion new minds ready to join the global conversation. Minds hungry to learn and share. However far we have come over the last 100 years, we haven’t begun to scratch the surface of what we are capable of achieving.
Diamandis tells us that far from an economic crisis, we are about to have the biggest economic injection ever with tens of billions of dollars being injected into the global economy.
So peeps, next time you feel doom and gloom about a predicted recession or the unsafe world we live in, remind yourself that there is PLENTY to be excited and hopeful for.
Over and out from me and here’s Peter Diamandis to give you his view of now and the future.
Until tomorrow for more inspiration… Day 28, that has come around quickly!
Have a blessed day,
